Stanford Community

I feel honored to be part of the Stanford WellConnect Community, working with medical residents, fellows, and faculty to help talented professionals navigate the demands of their meaningful and challenging work.  I understand the toll residency can take on both relationships and individuals, and I have the expertise to help people navigate these challenges and improve health, vitality, and well-being both personally and in their relationships. I offer evening appointments for couples in which one or both partners are enrolled in StanfordWellconnect. My office handles all the billing and paperwork, and there are no out-of-pocket expenses for you. I see clients both in-person in Redwood City and virtually, depending on your preference.  It is truly a privilege to support the Stanford medical community in this way.

I have been part of the Stanford Community since 1999 when I did my post-doctoral fellowship in the Psychiatry Department in Behavioral Medicine.  I then worked in Stanford’s Partial Hospitalization Program, and on the Inpatient Psychiatry Unit.  For 20 years, I have been working in private practice, seeing Stanford undergraduates and graduate students, as well as providing psychotherapy for members of the community at large.

Getting Started

  1. We have a 10-15 minute phone conversation to answer your questions and to set up our first appointment.
  2. You sign and complete the onboarding documents I send you from “drjulieleader@SimplePractice.com”. We will review these when we meet.
  3. For couples, I meet with you together first to better understand your relationship history, and then I meet with you each individually once to learn about your  individual families of origin.
